Statement:
For over 40 years, my aim has been to create tapestries for large public spaces. I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best architects and designers in the world. Large tapestries excel in architectural settings where the warmth, scale and texture of a strong tapestry can single handedly fill the need for the finish in a lobby. Simple solutions are often mutually beneficial.
Working on commission, I find it stimulating to be part of a team that creates an overall feeling of a space. My challenge is to create a design that responds to the space, but is also guided by the needs of the client and the user of that space. In my experience, scaling up, inventing suitable weaving technique combinations, and developing the appropriate spun and dyed wool yarns, has served to contribute a lasting form of textile art, which also addresses a client’s specific architectural direction.
