Statement:
Having lived in Galloway since 1986, the inspiration for my work comes from the inherent qualities found in the natural materials around me. Much of my work is experimental and pushes out the boundaries of traditional technique. For me willow has become a medium of interaction that is deeply personal. I see my baskets as reminders of the intense pleasure of nature the thing you find very rarely a place and a time which is universal and which is with you forevermore.

Pushing Boundaries features work by 20 artists including Lizzie Farey and the late Valerie Pragnell. Textual, tactile works Ð rooted in naturally grown traditional materials, yet embracing man made fibres and ÔfoundÕ objects, Pushing the Boundaries presents evocative shapes and imagery, delicate and lyrical forms Ð structures and ideas that extend the perception of what constitutes basketmaking today.
