The Books of Kay Sekimachi
INTIMATE VIEWS:
the Books of Kay Sekimachi

San Francisco Craft & Folk Art Museum
5.75" x 5.25", 36 pages, 2000

"
Kay Sekimachi fits well within a small group of outstanding weavers in the United States who continue to expand the techniques and approaches to contemporary weaving. Sekimachi’s woven books comprise a body of small-scale work that she had been creating continuously since 1980, along with origami boxes of Japanese paper treated with persimmon tannin, bowls made of hornet’s nest paper and delicate, fragile, skeletal leaf vessels – always using natural materials."

Carole Austin, Curator
San Francisco Craft & Folk Art Museum
