KNIGHTS BODY ARMOR III

round reed, printed tissue paper and thread
30" x 25" x 6";
26.5" x 30" x 5.5", 2005
$3,050 each

The armor works are my response to the crazy war we are in. My granddaughter is in the army stationed in Japan, so far, and her husband was in Iraq. When he came home for a break he told us he did not have any body armor. That fact bothered me so much I thought I'd make some!“

Statement:
"The majority of my work is three dimensional.  I love the touch of the materials whether they are paper, reeds, cement or metal, shaping them into an image that satisfies me.
My ideas or inspiration comes from the routine of life, everyday things that surround me, my house, friends, architecture and yes, television.
Our environment works on us in a silent way.The finished artwork is what matters.  The process by which it evolves is a good teacher.  Life flows through us and eventually into our artwork our thoughts are revealed."
